Opposite Farrow and Ball, the paint manufacturers loved by historic building owners and interior designers, the West Bank Gallery in an old and prominent bank building, provides an unexpected venue for exhibitions of contemporary and fresh street art and for courses in graffiti lessons. The main banking halls has been subdivided with an additional floor at some time in its history and in the garden outside is a large work against the wall, creating a different note in the trendy area of Notting Hill.
How long will it survive? The gallery has new premises along the road and the building is prime real estate with news reports earlier in the year that the landlord was going to terminate the lease in order to redevelop, The gallery is still showing a selection of street artists including Henry Hate, Schoony, The Thomas Brothers, Dominic Vonbern and Banksy with a new exhibition opening on 1st of October.
