Technical innovation and new artistic designs continue to drive the development of new football boots and running shoes and are shown off in the pop-up laboratories which launch new designs. Adidas recently celebrated the skill of Leo Messi in their new football boots ‘Pibe de barr10′, designed in collaboration with the graphic artist Ignacio Valentini from Rosario, Argentina and combining the latest technical style with street art from the barrio that celebrates Messi’s childhood playing football in the streets of Rosario.
Adidas’ South Korean flagship store in the shopping district of Myeongdong, Seoul has had two pop-up “laboratory” experiences designed by the South Korean designer Urbantainer. The most recent is the “Boost Energy Lab” for the launch of the Boost Running shoes, providing an interactive experience to introduce the new brand and celebrate the innovation achieved by Adidas in a laboratory experience with a display on the technical aspects of the shoe, linked to a moving light installation and LED panels in the floor which allow visitors to experience the shoe as they carry out athletic activities, the results of which are projected onto sculptural backgrounds
This follows on from the pop-up Adidas “Springblade Innovation Lab”, also designed by Urbantainer, for the launch of the Springblade Running shoes, a culmination of 6 years of research and innovation by the the Adidas innovation team. The laboratory combines display, graphics, lighting, LED technology and a running machine on which visitors could try out the shoes for themselves, all to highlight how new design and technology distinguishes these shoes from others on the market.
