An exhibition at Sotheby’s with work from the Bauhaus, the influential modernist school of art and design founded by Walter Gropius in Weimar in Germany in 1919 and disbanded in 1933 with many of the leading designers leaving Germany for other countries, in particular the USA. Innovative at its time, just imagine how far German design would have developed if the Bauhaus had been allowed to continue beyond 1933.
A lost opportunity which would have placed Germany as the leading country for arts and designs in the 20th century.
