Banksy – where are you? Brazil’s street artists have created their own art programme, painting walls of buildings and hoardings with graffiti art, a colourful and often controversial part of artistic life in South America. While many are celebratory and support Brazil’s national team, past and present, some are more political highlighting the poverty and lack of basic education and health funding which exists in the country, against the vast expense of hosting the World Cup extravaganza.
