Looking back a few months in time, it seems strange that the gardens at RHS Wisley were one of the last places I visited before the coronavirus lockdown. While sensible social distancing and other precautions were then in place, no-one really realised then what was about to hit us all as we effectively lost three months of our lives and our economy as the country shut down, as did most countries across the world. Nature however does not sleep and, with the expert care of the gardening staff at Wisley, the flowers, foliage and wildlife of the gardens have flourished, without visitors to disturb them. We have been in a coronavirus time-warp!
Three months later, when the clouds have moved on and spring has moved into summer, it seemed appropriate that the gardens at Wisley should be the one of the first places to return to as life slowly returns across the UK to summer 2020 ‘normal’.
