As we know, the Scots have travelled the world and left their footprint all across the globe. It is therefore good to see the Scottish artist Jim Lambie included in the exhibition ‘Transitions and Transformations’ at the NSU Art Museum. When I was last in Fort Lauderdale in March this year, I enjoyed attending the annual South Florida Scottish Festival and Highland Games, reinforcing the strong links between Scotland and Florida.
‘Transitions and Transformations’ showing work from the NSU Art Museum’s collections, on loan and promised to the Art Museum, is themed around the passage of time, physical transformation and turning points in the history of art – transitions and transformations in all sorts of different ways, very often with artists at the forefront of societal change as with Pop Art in the 1960′s.
Artists on show include Diago Rivera, Frank Stella, Andy Warhol, Jim Lambie from Scotland and Zilla Sanchez from Cuba.
A fascinating exhibition which uses its theme to explore many of the changes in artistic movements of the 20th century.
