The pop band is cocooned within a fabric-hung studio. Strangely, as you enter, one of the members throws a boot high over the other members of the band, whose instruments are eerily and strangely covered in tar, but the energy, liveliness and sound is unmistakable. This is a band in full flow…..while yet frozen in time.
I love visiting the Now Gallery, with its fascinating series of exhibitions that responds to the context of the area by combining art, fashion and digital in its exhibitions.
The current exhibition by Nigerian-British fashion designer Mowalola Ogunlesi combines her Punk-inspired designs with her love of music in the tar-covered band playing, but frozen, in ”Silent Madness’, in a studio setting created from her own fabrics, along with audio and video experiences for the audience.
Not to be missed – and worth travelling out on the Jubilee Line to see…..
