Our condensing boiler at home was manufactured by the British company Wolseley. Obviously very successful, the owner Jeremy Lancaster also built up an impressive collection of 20th century art, initially British, but later geographically wider. Works from the collection, including Picssso, Warhol, Miro, Bridget Riley and David Hockney were on auction at Christie’s at the start of October, as a prelude to Frieze, including a whole room of paintings by Howard Hodgkin.
He was obviously a shrewd collactor as Christies advise the auction raised over £23 million including buyers’ premium.
