London Bridge Station, one of London’s oldest (dating back to 1836) and one of London’s busiest, has recently been transformed by a massive £1 billion project designed by Grimshaw Architects which, in addition to proving new station, retail and restaurant facilities, has opened up the arches below the station, created new connections between the different lines and out to the adjacent streets and provided new curving streamlined canopies overhead.
Unexpectedly, it has also become an art gallery. Photographer Perou has brought stunning photographs of big cats from the Big Cats Sanctuary in Smarsden in Kent into the heart of London Bridge Station and into the south side of London itself, and giving pleasure to the many millions of commuters and visitors who pass through every year. These large ferocious animals are here in all their magnificence and beauty.
