As you walk down Northumberland Avenue, you glance through the windows at what looks like a demolition site, a space in transition, with rubble and debris on the floor.
Sometimes you go to an art exhibition which is quite challenging and this is the case at the Korea Cultural Centre with its 2019 Open Call ‘Ways to Experience’ showing a series of collaborative works by six artists based in Korea and the UK. What you have to do is explore what the different artists intend through their installations and videos, otherwise you will miss the point of them and walk on.
If there is a theme, perhaps it is ‘transition’ – moving from an old physical world to a future digital world. How do we move from one to the other, and how do people cope with the change, with all the emotional and intellectual challenges that the future world brings? This exhibition doesn’t provide the answers, but it does pose the questions…
