It is always interesting to look for new things at the art and antiques fairs held at Olympia. There is always a high quality of traditional antiques, silver and paintings, moving into Art Deco with galleries from around the UK and Europe. This fair had some surprises. Fallenstars had a selection of science fiction tin-plate toys, which are now highly collectible, especially if in good condition and in the original boxes, and, in a related space-age theme, natural sculptures made of meteorites from Campo del Cielo in Argentina. Succession had rarely-seen geometrical concrete sculpture by the Russian constructivist artist Aleksie Babichev and interspersed, among more traditional works, Garret and Hurst had beautiful bronzes by the Dutch sculptor Margot Homan, who was educated at the Tilburg Academy for fine Arts and whose work is represented in many private and public collections.
