Also at the Barbican….  The Curve is a “left over” space which the Barbican has tried to run as a long thin arts space for the last 30 years.  It sometime works; it sometimes doesn’t. The Turkish artist Ayse Erkmen has taken the space and made it work with an exhibition called “Intervals”. Eleven scenic backdrops, all quite traditional in various and different ways, rise and fall in an unpredictable choreographical sequence. Stay too long and you will have to experience another sequence or duck down and run hard to “beat the clock”.  Traditional in style, each backcloth refers to a different style or production of theatrical design, none too dramatic or modern.  Visitors and the attendants become the players on the stage, the actors in this unpredictable production.  Well worth seeing before a concert in the Barbican Hall itself.
